# Use Paxa with SillyTavern

Give SillyTavern characters voices that speak English, Thai, and Mandarin, through SillyTavern's OpenAI Compatible TTS provider.

Give each SillyTavern character a voice that speaks English, Thai, and Mandarin, mixed sentences included. SillyTavern's OpenAI Compatible TTS provider connects to Paxa with an endpoint and an API key.

## Before you start

- Create a Paxa API key on the [dashboard](https://paxalabs.com/app/keys). A new account starts with 100 free credits.
- Pick voices from [GET /v1/voices](https://paxalabs.com/docs/api/voices) whose model is `paxa-tts-flash-v2`, or listen first in the [voice library](https://paxalabs.com/voices).

## Connect

1. Open the TTS settings: Open the Extensions panel and its TTS section.
2. Choose the provider: Select OpenAI Compatible as the TTS provider.
3. Set the endpoint: Set Provider Endpoint to `https://api.paxalabs.com/v1/audio/speech`. The field takes the full URL.
4. Add the key: Click API Key and paste your Paxa API key.
5. Set the model: Set Model to `paxa-tts-flash-v2`.
6. List the voices: Set Available Voices to Paxa voice ids separated by commas, such as `khanomkrok,nomyen,foithong`.
7. Set the speed: Keep Speed between 0.5 and 1.5.
8. Assign voices: Check Enabled, open a chat, choose a voice for each character in the voice map, and click Apply.

## Known limitations

- The Speed slider runs from 0.25 to 4, and Paxa answers 400 outside 0.5 to 1.5.
- SillyTavern sends each request from its own server, which needs to reach the Paxa API.
- Menu and field names can differ between SillyTavern versions.
